ON SMOOTHING DUAL METHOD FOR SOLVING MODEL PROBLEM WITH SET FRICTION

Variational problems of minimization of non-differentiable functionals often appear in mechanics problems which include friction. The finite-element approximation of these problems leads to the finite-dimension convex problem of a non-smooth optimization [1], [2]. Standard ways of solving these problems are considered in [3], [4], [5]. A solution technique of the semicoercive problem with set friction that allows one to smooth an auxiliary functional at every iterative process step is investigated.

Keywords: functional, saddle point, iterative regularization, triangulation, finite elements, friction
