RESEARCH OF THE ROLE OF THE INITIAL STATE IN DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCESS OF DOUBLE PHOTOIONIZATION OF HELIUM ATOM

The fundamental role of the double photoionization of the helium atom resides in the possibility to study the electron correlations in such reactions. We investigate the influence of the form of the initial state wave function upon the absolute value of the matrix element. Calculations are performed for two different forms of the ground state wave function: 1) with consideration for the inter-electron correlation, and 2) without the use of the electron-electron correlation. We make use of the C2-model approach in which the final state wave function is presented as a product of two Coulomb waves. We demonstrate the importance of taking into account of the electron-electron correlation in this reaction.

Keywords: double-photoionization of atoms, electron correlation, differential section of reaction, C2-model, matrix element, Nordsieck’s integral.
