THE REFRACTION MECHANISM OF COHERENT LIGHT AT THE OUTLET OF THE PLANE-PARALLEL DIELECTRIC AND THE INTERFERENCE NATURE OF THE FERMAT PRINCIPLE

It is shown that in a homogeneous environment for the plane-parallel dielectric, there is a region of space where the field propagation is similar to refraction in an inhomogeneous medium. In this area, within the near zone, the direction of the wave vector of the transmitted field varies smoothly approaching the direction of the incident wave vector with increasing distance. It is shown that this behavior of the field is due to the interference of the incident wave fields and those of secondary sources excited in the dielectric by the incident wave. The refraction of the field in a homogeneous medium behind the dielectric is established to correspond to Fermats principle.
