THE ROLE OF THE INTERNET IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROTEST MOVEMENT IN KHABAROVSKY KRAI IN THE YEARS OF 2011-2012

In the article the extent of penetration and the perception of the Internet among the population of Khabarovsky krai are analyzed; the probability of use of «new media» - social networks, blogs and news web-sites – in order to organize protests and disseminate information about them is studied. The received data show that: (1) the impact of the Internet on the political process in Khabarovsky krai is limited but growing; (2) at present there are no any major opposition web-resources in Khabarovsky krai that makes it improbable to organize on-line mass protests in the region.
