Simulating contact interaction and fracturing elastic-fragile solids by a rigid indenter

The article considers some finite-element models and algorithms of numerical solving contact and fracture problems of solids. The behaviour of a material is described by the elasto-fragile nonlinear solid (fragile-damage model).The author has carried out a numerical analysis of quasi-static deformation and destruction of a bone at penetrating action of the rigid indentor (This problem is modelling a cut trauma of a tubular bone by a sharp subject).
