Resonant excitation by a solitary domain wall of magnet-elastic vibrations in orthoferrites

Dynamics of domain walls (DWs) has been studied in transparent thin orthoferrites samples with weak ferromagnetic ordering at subsonic and supersonic speeds. Direct measurements of the amplitude of flexural vibrations in the plates studied have been made, induced by the solitary DW motion at a periodic driving magnetic field. Magnetolastic soliton formation has been observed and their dynamics at a resonance between spin and elastic subsystems has been studied. The solitons lag behind the domain wall at the moment when the DW breaks through the sound barrier and are ahead of it at supersonic speed.
