Strengthening of a Mythological Constituent in Media Channels in the Period of the Great Patriotic War

In the article the mythological constituents of the press in the period of the Great Patriotic War are considered. Competently used myth concepts presented a mighty reserve of society consolidation, even in the absence of social equality. The publicism in the period of the Great Patriotic War had no equal one in the history of Russian periodical press. It led the readers through the tragic events to purification, to a high emotional splash, to sensuality while hiding the actual state of affairs. That influenced growth of morality, strengthening of national self–consciousness and patriotism. Myth by virtue of its syncretic nature played a decisive role in the ideological and political genesis of the totalitarianism.

Keywords: myth concepts, the press, the period of the GPW, syncretic nature, national self-consciousness
