OPPOSITIONS AS A BASIS OF SYSTEMIC ORGANIZATION OF VOCABULARY (ON THE MATERIALS OF RUSSIAN COLOR-TERMS)

Russian color-terms represent the special system organized by different oppositions – zero opposition, privative opposition, and antonymous opposition. The analysis of systemic oppositions of colour-terms allows to reveal significant semantic, syntagmatic, etymological, functional and stylistic features of Russian color-terms, to forecast their further semantic development and, in particular, to determine productive ways of their metaphorisation.
