UNIVERSITY STRUCTURE

Our higher educational institution was founded in 1958. Since March, 2005 it has been named “Pacific National University” (PNU).

Presently PNU is one of the largest educational and research centers of the Russian Far East. PNU offers an opportunity to study at any advanced educational programs, such as Bachelor’s degree, Bachelor’s-Master’s degree, and Master’s degree programs. More than 21 thousand students are trained at all educational levels.

The university is a major regional centre for training and certification of highly qualified personnel, there are 10 dissertation councils. Postgraduate students’ training is performed in 40 majors, Doctorate students – in 7 majors.

PNU realizes specialists training in higher professional education in engineering, economics, humanities, physical and mathematic majors, social science, and service sector. The training is carried out in 41 majors for Bachelor’s degree and 33 majors for Master’s degree.

The university structure comprises 12 Schools, 56 chairs. Presently about 1000 faculty members carry out academic and research activities at the university. This number includes 20 Academicians and Corresponding members of RAS, 14 Honorees of Sciences and Culture of the Russian Federation, more than 50 Honorees of Higher Professional Education of Russia; about 120 Professors and Doctors of Sciences; about 450 Associate Professors and PhD holders.

For 20 years, PNU has been training specialists from foreign countries according to various programs. Since 1989 up to the present time more than 2500 foreign citizens from the USA, Japan, the Peoples’ Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Thailand and India have been trained at the university.

For 53 years of the university existence there have been prepared over 83 thousand specialists for organizations and enterprises of the Far East, Eastern Siberia and Asia Pacific region countries.

At present (since April 2011) the structure of the University includes the following subdivisions:

• School of Ecology and Nature Management;

• School of Economics and Management;
• School of Social Studies and Humanities;
• School of Fundamental and Computer Sciences;
• School of Automation and Informational Technologies;
• School of Law;
• Department of Extramural Training;
• Department of Extension and Parallel Training;
• Department of Further Professional Training.
